New Calls for Action
We call for a thorough investigation
and for the severe punishment for the criminals who murdered dogs with deadly pesticides.

This truly horrible and criminal act cannot go without further investigation and direct action! Please help us to draw attention to this case by taking actions.

Below is translation of the petition by the Korean organizations: Korea Animal Welfare Association, Busan Alliance for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Busan KAPCA), Busan Citizen Alliance.

Early morning last March 1, Busan Gangseo District police arrested two suspects accused of using food coated with deadly methomyl pesticide in order to lure and then murder large dogs in order to sell their dead bodies. The police have requested an arrest warrant for one of these two suspects for various crimes including animal protection law violation and grand larceny.

The police have found at least 6 cases in which these suspects have targeted large dogs, especially Jindo and Sapsal breeds, tied up in people’s yards. The suspects would toss meat coated with deadly methomyl pesticide to these dogs, and then, when the dogs consumed the meat and collapsed, the suspects would load the dogs into their car and flee.

We are appalled that dogs murdered with deadly poison could have been sold to an unidentified person. The fact that the suspects targeted mostly large dogs, and that the dead bodies were sold to someone else highly suggests that the bodies were used for dog meat.

New Calls for Action
Seoul’s 25 Districts need to
end the dog and cat meat cruelty!

We will now go down to the district level in the Korean government. Cities are made up of multiple administrative districts and we will petition each of them in turn. Below are the remaining 9 of the 25 districts within Mighty Seoul Metropolitan City.

South Koreans:
Stop the illegal dog and cat meat trades.

File your petition on e-people
South Korea’s Official Government Petition Page!

All across South Korea, millions of ‘meat dogs’ (including newborn puppies) which are destined for human consumption, are kept outdoors in meat farms and slaughterhouses, imprisoned in cages that are crudely constructed of wire and raised off the ground, and which afford no protection from the snow or freezing winds that are part of a normal winter in that country. These poor creatures – from the second they are born, to their final breath at the uncaring hands of a brutal butcher – have to endure endless misery and agony. South Korea is truly a “Hell on Earth” for countless innocent dogs and cats. So, please, don’t let the Koreans continue their vile and cruel practice.

A simple but very effective way is to file a petition directly with the Korean government using the e-People online petition page. This is different than other petitions because the Korean government is responsible for responding to you! If they have to address and respond to hundreds, thousands or hundreds of thousands of petitions on this issue; then perhaps they will finally be put under enough pressure to take action to bring this horrific animal cruelty to an end.
