On January 19, ahead of the Lunar New Year holidays, a dog slaughterhouse is selling dogs with a dead dog hanging next to the cage full of live dogs causing disgust at the largest outdoor traditional market in the metropolitan area, Seongnam Moran Market. The live dogs in the cage look pitiful. Dogs are classified as livestock in the Livestock Industry Act and the Act on the Prevention of Contagious Animal Diseases. However, they are excluded from the Livestock Products Sanitary Control Act making it impossible in reality to prohibit slaughter and sale by law. 1/19/2014. Yeol-Su Lim reports.
설을 앞두고 19일 오후 수도권 최대 규모의 전통시장인 성남 모란시장의 한 개고기 판매점에서 도축한 통개를 개보관장 앞에 내걸고 판매하고 있어 시민들에게 혐오감을 주고 있다. 개우리 안의 살아있는 개의 눈빛이 안쓰러워 보인다.개는 축산법과 가축전염병예방법에 가축으로 분류돼 있지만 축산물위생관리법에서는 가축에서 제외돼 있어 현실적으로는 개 도축과 개고기 판매를 법적으로 막을 방도가 없는 상태이다.1월 19일 /임열수기자
