Response from PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Committee

Lee Hee-Beom President & CEO of PyeongChang 2018 Organizing Committee

USA TODAY Sports reported on February 7 that they received a reply from the news desk of the organizing committee, with its “official statement on dog meat consumption.”

The statement read: “We are aware of the international concern around the consumption of dog meat in Korea. This is a matter which the government should address. We hope that this issue will not impact on the delivery or reputation of the Games and the province and we will support the work of the province and government on this topic as needed. Also, dog meat will not be served at any Games venue.”

The Olympics showcase the best of humanity and Advocate Love and Respect for All Torture of any kind should not be ignored or condoned

Not serving dog at any Games venue is good but what would be better is to condemn this practice and let it be known that the world knows of this in spite of them trying to hide the pain and torture meted out to the distant cousins of our beloved four legged family members. Until this barbaric and cruel practice stops I will boycott South Korean products such as Kia and Hyundai cars along with tourism and anything else that has it coming from South Korea. I will of course urge my family and friends to do the same as I will e-mail the inhumane videos that I have seen
