Break the Chains, Stop Burning Dogs Alive: Say No to South Korea Hosting the 2036 Olympics!
South Korea’s pursuit of the 2036 Summer Olympics is marred by a profoundly concerning issue: the ongoing, severe neglect of animals. Despite legal revisions, the cruel practice of lifelong dog tethering continues, leaving countless animals in misery. Tragically, this neglect leads to horrific and preventable deaths of burning alive during disasters like wildfires, where chained and caged dogs are abandoned to burn alive. The International Olympic Committee must consider this stark reality. Awarding the Games to a nation with such demonstrable animal welfare failures would contradict the values of compassion and respect the Olympics should represent.
We urge you to take immediate action. This campaign demands that the IOC recognize the ethical imperative to prioritize animal welfare in their decision for the 2036 Olympics. By adding your name to this petition, you directly amplify the global call for South Korea to end lifelong tethering, strengthen animal protection laws, and ensure the safety of animals during emergencies. Your signature sends a clear message: the world is watching, and we will not stand by while such cruelty persists. Join us to break these chains of suffering and prevent future tragedies. Our collective voice can influence the IOC and compel South Korea to enact meaningful change. Take a stand for these vulnerable animals now.

I urgently call on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to reject South Korea’s bid to host the 2036 Summer Olympics due to its deeply concerning and inadequately addressed animal welfare crisis, specifically the cruel practice of lifelong dog tethering and the tragic consequences of this neglect during disasters.
Despite the revised 2023 Animal Protection Act, overwhelming evidence reveals South Korea’s continued failure to protect companion animals. The allowance of lifelong tethering, often with chains far shorter than the supposed two-meter minimum, inflicts immense suffering on countless dogs. Weak enforcement renders this law ineffective, condemning countless dogs to lives of filth, neglect, and isolation.
The recurring horror of wildfires starkly exposes this systemic neglect. Helpless dogs, confined by chains and cages, are routinely left to burn alive as owners flee, abandoning loyal companions to unimaginable suffering. The mass incineration of 700 dogs in raised wire cages in Andong and the forcing of severely burned dogs back to work untreated are not isolated incidents but a callous betrayal that shame South Korea’s international image and reveal a shocking absence of compassion for sentient life.
Fundamentally flawed by its allowance of lifelong tethering and undermined by poor enforcement, the revised Animal Protection Act offers no real protection. Regardless of the mandated two-meter length, lifelong tethering inherently condemns sentient beings to a cruel and inhumane existence and must be completely prohibited.
Awarding the prestigious 2036 Summer Olympics to South Korea, a nation demonstrably unwilling to address egregious animal cruelty would profoundly betray the Olympic spirit and its values, sending a damaging global message that such cruelty is acceptable.
I urge the IOC to demand concrete and verifiable action from the South Korean government, including:
1. The immediate enactment and strict enforcement of a complete ban on lifelong tethering.
2. The drastic strengthening of animal welfare law enforcement with severe penalties for neglect and abuse.
3. The implementation of mandatory disaster evacuation protocols unequivocally requiring the evacuation of all dogs alongside their human guardians, forbidding any dog from being left tethered, caged, or confined.
The world is watching. The selection of an Olympic host reflects our collective values. Choosing a nation with such a demonstrably poor record on animal welfare would be a significant step backward for global compassion and ethical treatment.
Our global petition is underway, urging the IOC to stand for compassion and reject South Korea’s Olympic bid until meaningful, lasting reforms are enacted to end the suffering of countless animals. https://chng.it/F2yJCNXHrJ
We urge the IOC to prioritize animal welfare in its decision-making process for the 2036 Summer Olympics.
Sincerely,
[Your name, city, country]

Cani indifesi, confinati da catene e gabbie, vengono abitualmente lasciati a bruciare vivi mentre i proprietari fuggono, abbandonando compagni fedeli a sofferenze inimmaginabili.

This is so sad; this reality is hard to cope and accept. All the staff involved in fighting for the inhumane care and torturing of dogs, cats must feel disheartened. All the accomplishments you have done for them is because of your determination to help those helpless souls get a safe and happy life they deserve. I can help in little ways like letters to governments, petitions for campaigns against these cruelty and also to donate when i can. Thank you for what you have done, for now and the future for our dogs.
NO to the 2036 summer olympics in South Korea which is this world’s NO1 Animal TORTURER and ABUSER!
You are true heroes for animals, working with the most appalling acts of cruelty & barbarism imaginable. If S Korea wants to be considered a civilised society, its government needs to take radical action against this culture of indifference to suffering. I will keep petitioning & donating.
Thank you, Kevin!!
