1. 평소 대한민국과 우리시 행정업무에 관심을 가져 주셔서 감사드립니다.

2. 국민신문고 민원(1AA-2008-0003403)호와 관련 귀하께서 신청하신 민원에 대하여 다음과 같이 답변 드립니다.

3. 현행법상 개는 축산법의 가축의 범위에는 포함되어 있으나, 축산물위생관리법에서 관리하는 가축에 포함되어 있지 않아 관련법에 따른 규제를 받지 않고 있습니다.
또한, 도축 이후에 시중에 유통되는 사항도 현행 축산물위생관리법으로 단속할 수 없음을 알려드립니다.

개 식용금지와 관련해서 국민적 합의가 필요한 사항으로 생산자, 영업자, 동물보호단체 등 이해관계자 및 식약처를 비롯한 관계부처가 충분한 논의를 거쳐 관련법을 제정하고, 지금 귀하께서 하시듯이 여러 경로를 통한 계몽과 인식의 전환이 함께 이루어지면 가까운 시기에 좀 더 개선된 환경이 만들어지리라 생각합니다.

2. The following is the answer to the civil petition (1AA-2008-0003403) filed through e-People.

3. Under the current law, dogs are included in the range of livestock stipulated by the Livestock Act but not in the range of livestock by the Livestock Product Sanitation Control Act so dogs are not regulated by related laws.
Also, the current Livestock Product Sanitation Control Act cannot crack down on slaughter and distribution in the market.

It requires a national consensus regarding the ban on dog-eating and producers, operators, animal protection groups, and related ministries, including the Food and Drug Administration, should discuss and enact related laws, and, as you mentioned, public awareness on the matter should be done through various channels then we believe a more improved environment will be created in the near future.
