🔥Call for Action: No More Burned Dogs!🔥 Help Forest Fire Victims Find Hope.
As of April 3, 2025, the devastating wildfires in southeastern South Korea have been fully contained. Igniting on March 21, the fires resulted in at least 31 human fatalities and destroyed approximately 4,015 homes, 1,914 agricultural and livestock facilities, seven temples, and 986 other structures.
The forest fires raging through South Korea don’t just consume trees; they incinerate the innocent lives of countless dogs—chained, caged, and utterly helpless. While humans flee to safety, they leave behind the very animals who offer them unwavering loyalty, condemning them to the unimaginable agony of being burned alive. Picture their frantic struggles, their desperate cries for the humans who have abandoned them to such a horrific fate. This is not simply indifference; it is a callous betrayal, a monstrous act of cruelty that stains the soul of South Korea. The terror of their final moments, tethered and unable to escape the inferno, is a testament to a profound human failing. The devastating suffering endured by countless dogs is visible on CARE’s YouTube ChannelE: HERE.
This betrayal, staining South Korea’s soul, demands immediate change. No dog should ever be left tethered to such a horrific fate. You can find more information about our previous campaigns on this issue HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE.
We urge you to take action today and send a powerful message to South Korea that we are devastated by this callousness. We demand that the treatment of dogs be prioritized and that such tragic events never happen again.
Below is a message from Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth (CARE). CARE is on the front lines, working relentlessly to rescue dogs caught in the aftermath of these horrific fires. Their efforts are a beacon of hope in this tragedy. Please consider making a donation to support CARE’s vital work. Your generosity will directly enable them to save more lives, provide essential medical care to suffering animals, and fight for lasting change to end such cruelty.
Video: CARE rescued a dog in South Korea with both eyes severely burned by the fire.
CARE: You can help even if you cannot come to the wildfire site!
CARE is rescuing numerous animals from the wildfire disaster. We are prioritizing the rescue of animals with the most severe injuries. The affected residents are in no position to treat their pets. Homes are reduced to ashes and rubble.
The reality is so dire that they cannot even consider treating their dogs, with reconstruction and compensation being uncertain. These are the animals CARE has rescued from the wildfire site so far. They are the animals receiving injury treatment.
Treatment has begun with the free medical care provided to a total of 6 animals at each branch of Yieum Animal Hospital (Pohang, Dongtan, Cheongju). Also, Helix Animal Medical Center’s Seocho branch has decided to sponsor treatment for Bbibbi, who suffered the most severe injuries. A citizen, Jeon Ji-yeon, has personally stepped forward to support the treatment of an animal named Daepung. Many people are pooling their hearts and resources to treat numerous other animals.
Let’s rescue them together. Please join CARE and citizens in rescue efforts (treatment support, foster parent support) for the animals suffering in the wildfire disaster. We are also awaiting cooperation from other hospitals. Please become a supporter of CARE’s powerful animal movement through regular donations! For 25 years, CARE’s integrity in using donations has been recognized by South Korea’s Ministry of Justice, as well as its citizens and communities.

💗🐾🙏 In addition to these recent rescues, CARE provides a sanctuary for 800 dogs at their shelters, all rescued from the horrors of dog meat farms and puppy mills. Your donation will support CARE’s vital mission to end the dog meat trade and animal cruelty in South Korea, and will directly assist with the medical care, fostering, and overseas adoption of these deserving dogs.

Thank you for your support! 💙
💗 To donate to Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth (CARE), the best option is to contribute directly to them. However, we have set up a GoFundMe page for those who prefer an alternative where you can donate and share with your friends and family. Rest assured, 100% of the funds raised on GoFundMe will be donated to CARE. (South Korea is not on the list of Countries supported on GoFundMe, so KoreanDogs.org is raising money for CARE instead.) 👉 GoFundMe Link: https://gofund.me/d483838d

We are writing to express our profound distress and outrage regarding the recurring and tragic loss of canine lives during wildfires in South Korea. The persistent and deeply disturbing pattern of dogs being chained outdoors and subsequently abandoned during evacuations, left to perish in the flames, is an unacceptable reality.
Each forest fire in South Korea results in the horrifying death of thousands of chained and caged dogs. Abandoned during evacuations, they are left to suffer and die in the flames. This tragedy exposes a heartbreaking indifference toward animals who view their humans as family and protectors. South Korea, this is a shameful stain on your conscience.
This situation demands immediate and decisive action. No dog should ever be left tied up and abandoned to die in a fire. We implore the South Korean government to prioritize the welfare of these vulnerable animals and implement the following critical measures:
1. Enact a National Ban on Lifelong Tethering: We demand the immediate enactment of a national law that explicitly prohibits the lifelong chaining or tethering of dogs. This practice is inherently cruel and inhumane, directly contributing to the tragic deaths we have witnessed.
2. Mandate the Evacuation of Animals During Emergencies: We insist on the establishment of a legal mandate that requires the evacuation of all domestic animals, particularly dogs, during mandatory human evacuations in wildfire and other disaster scenarios.
3. Ensure Strict Enforcement and Imposition of Severe Penalties: We call for the rigorous enforcement of existing and newly enacted animal protection laws, with severe penalties for those who neglect or abuse animals, especially during emergencies.
4. Launch a Comprehensive Public Awareness and Education Campaign: We urge the government to initiate a nationwide public awareness campaign to educate citizens about responsible pet ownership, the dangers of tethering, and the critical importance of animal evacuation during disasters.
5. Allocate Resources for Animal Rescue and Support: We request that the government allocate adequate resources to support animal welfare organizations and emergency responders in their efforts to rescue and care for animals during disasters.
We demand that the treatment of dogs be prioritized and that such tragic events never happen again. We demand that the South Korean government act immediately to implement these measures and protect the lives of dogs.
Online petitions are currently underway, urging the South Korean Government to take immediate and decisive action to ban the tethering of dogs and hold accountable those who abandoned their chained dogs to burn to death. https://chng.it/z9PL76mBqj, https://chng.it/FWgNZpyFGv. Together, we can end the suffering of dogs tied to chains and help create a future where all animals are treated with the respect they deserve.
Sincerely,
[Your name, city, country]

STOP this ENVIRONMENTAL CRIME and the suffering of countless innocent animals.
No excuse for cruelty!
Unfortunately these heinous atrocities will NEVER stop in this gut-wrenchingly cruel and brutal country. In fact, this is the mindset of this country’s masses, they couldn’t care less about the lives of dogs or cats.
