UPDATE 🚨 Dogs Chained in a Garlic Field: Starving, Mutilated, and Waiting Only for Death

Following our report on the ‘hell on earth’ conditions of the seven dogs in the garlic field, we have an urgent update from CARE (Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth) on their status. 👉 Click HERE to learn more.
From a Life of Torment to a Race Against Time
These dogs face euthanasia if they aren’t adopted in the next month.
With the help of the Heatwave Monitoring Team and Gwangju City Hall, CARE (Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth) has freed the remaining dogs from an overgrown garlic field where they were chained like prisoners. Activists described the scene as a living hell—a minefield of suffering where dogs, treated as disposable tools, were tied to stakes and left to endure blazing heat, freezing snow, and pounding rain without shelter.
When they were discovered, their bodies were crawling with hundreds of ticks, their bowls were empty or filled with rotting scraps, and there was no water. Skeletal and starved, they desperately devoured any food they were offered. Among them was a dog with two legs brutally severed—an injury so severe she required immediate emergency care. CARE rescued her, while another was saved by a member of the Heatwave Monitoring Team and a third by Dream Tails Rescue.
Unfortunately, CARE is already at capacity, caring for over 800 animals, and cannot immediately take in the four dogs who remain. A desperate search for foster homes came up empty, so these dogs were moved to a municipal shelter.
Their Future Depends on You
These dogs have never known a human’s touch and now have only a few weeks to find a forever home. They were raised to guard a field, surviving on rotting garbage scraps fed to them only a couple of times a week. It’s no wonder they are timid and scared of people—they have never been shown love.
Please help us give them a chance at a life beyond chains and torment.
- If you can adopt, please contact CARE. They will sponsor spay/neuter surgery for any dog who finds a home.
- If you can’t adopt, please share this post widely.
Every share, every offer of help, can save a life.

CARE’s update post in Korean, 8/14/2025:🔥
