2. 귀하의 민원 내용은 ‘개고기 식용 반대의견’에 관한 것으로 이해됩니다.

3. 개고기의 식용문화에 관하여 현재 개고기를 금지하는 법이 없으므로 개고기의 식용은 불법이 아니지만 찬반논란이 뜨거운 것은 사실입니다. 축산법에 따르면 개는 엄연히 가축의 범위에 속하지만, 축산물 위생관리법에는 포함되지 않아 개고기의 식용문제는 법의 사각지대에 놓여있는 실정입니다. 현재로서는 잔인한 도축행위, 도축 후 부산물을 규정에 맞지 않게 처리하는 등의 행위에 관하여 식품위생법상 처벌이 가능합니다.
우리 시에서는 이와 관련하여 정기적인 식품위생점검 및 단속을 하고 있으며 앞으로도 식품영업소 및 납품업소를 대상으로 식품위생단속업무에 만전을 기하겠습니다.

Results 1. Greetings! This has reference to the petition you submitted through e-People portal.
2. Your civil petition is understood to be an “objection to dog meat.”
3. Hereunder is our reply.
4. There is currently no law prohibiting the culture of eating dog meat, but there is hot controversy over eating dog meat even though it is not illegal. Dogs are clearly livestock according to the Livestock Industry Act, but they are not included in the Livestock Products Sanitary Control Act. As a result, the matter of eating dog is in a legal blind spot. As of now, it is possible to punish brutal slaughtering, processing of the byproduct after slaughtering, etc. as per the Food Sanitation Act. Our city is inspecting food sanitation and cracking down on illegal practices on a regular basis in relation to this matter. Rest assured that we will go after illegal and unsanitary food producers and sellers.
