1. Greetings, We would like to provide you with the results of the review regarding the petition you submitted through the e-People (Gukmin Sinmungo) portal.

Circumstances of the Raid: To briefly explain the situation at the time, we received a tip-off that professional gambling rings from large metropolitan areas, such as Gwangju, were taking advantage of the farming off-season to engage in dogfight gambling in remote mountainous areas to evade police detection. In response, a task force of approximately 50 personnel from the police and the county office was formed. After thorough scenario reviews and mission briefings, the team was deployed to the scene. Because the access road was a narrow, one-way forest path, approximately 40 individuals involved in the gambling sensed the police presence and attempted to flee in their vehicles. They were subsequently intercepted by officers who were blocking the path.

Investigation Status: Please be advised that gambling cases require the securing of strict evidence, including physical proof and testimonies from participants and witnesses. We are currently using the contact information and evidence secured at the scene to conduct a detailed investigation into these illegal activities and will take appropriate action based on the findings.

Future Commitment: Based on the details provided in your petition, we will continue to strive for the total eradication of illegal gambling in mountainous regions. We thank you once again for your interest in the work of the police.

◦ 당시 상황을 간략히 설명해 드리면 광주권 등 대도시 원정 도박단이 농한기를 맞아 경찰 단속을 피해 인적이 드문 야산 등지에서 투견도박을 한다는 신고(제보)가 접수되어 경찰, 군청 등 50여 명으로 단속반을 구성하여 수회에 걸친 시나리오 검토 및 임무 명과 확인 후 현장 투입하였으나 차량 진입로가 임도(외길)로, 단속이 시작되자 낌새를 느낀 도박 관련자 40여 명이 차량을 타고 현장을 벗어나려다 길을 막고 있던 경찰관에게 적발된 사항입니다.
◦ 도박 사건은 명백한 증거와 도박행위 참가자 및 목격자의 진술 확보 등 엄밀한 구증이 필요함을 말씀드리며, 당시 관련자 연락처 등 확보한 내용으로 구체적인 불법행위 확인(수사)하여 조치할 예정임을 알려 드립니다.
