Since December of last year, Korea Animal Rights Advocates (KARA) have detected a total of four dog slaughterhouses and rescued all 129 dogs stuck there. In the process, we found out that the butcher was purchasing dogs at a large ‘edible dog’ auction house in Paju. KARA investigated over several months to find out the reality of the auction house. We have exclusively exposed the abuse that is happening at the auction house.
At the ‘edible dog’ auction house, dogs are classified according to their weight. More than 40kg is class A, 30 to 35kg is ‘Eolchigi’ (middle class), and dogs with less weight are classified as ‘for soup.’ Before the auction is held, members are notified by text messages and encouraged to participate.
The auction is held every two days. As the auction starts, a loud voice shouting 80,000 won to 400,000 won ($68~340) per dog fills the auction house. Dogs with a blue spray on their backs are crumpled in wire nets. They are immediately loaded into the butcher’s trucks and herded to the slaughterhouse. Dogs are terrified without knowing where they are going.
Paju auction house is operated on a membership basis. Many transaction statements were found at the slaughterhouse in Singok-dong, Uijeongbu, where dogs were bought from the auction house. It has been confirmed that 10 to 30 at a time have been continuously purchased. Inside the slaughterhouse, there were piles of hairs and intestines of countless dogs that had been slaughtered every day.
Auctions are held at all times throughout the year. In particular, during the summer season, when demand for Bosingtang (dog meat soup) increases, this auction house was operated 24 hours a day, supplying dogs day and night. Despite collecting unimaginable high profits in the process, they have not been subject to any legal sanctions.
KARA had briefed these findings to the provincial governor and mayor who visited the KARA Bom Center earlier this year and asked to take strong measures. However, the auction house is still operating. Fines have been imposed on several occasions, but the fines are too small for those who make huge profits throughout the year. There is a need for stronger punishment and full closure of the auction house and the slaughterhouses.

[민원요청] 🚨 도살장의 개들은 어디서 오는가 _파주 개식용 경매장 내부 실태 공개 #1

지난 12월부터 카라는 총 4곳의 개 도살장을 적발하였고 129마리의 개들을 전원 구조하였습니다. 지옥과도 같은 참혹한 도살 현장에서 구조된 개들이 끌려온 곳은 ‘개식용 경매장’이었습니다. 철저한 보안과 경계로 이제까지 공개되지 않았던 파주소재 대형 개식용 경매장의 최근 내부 실태를 카라가 공개합니다.

카라는 경기도 고양시 설문동에서 개 전기도살을 일삼던 도살자의 행적을 추적하는 과정에 도살자가 파주시에 소재한 대형 개식용 경매장에서 개를 구입하는 정황을 포착하였고 도살자를 추적, 급습, 고발하는 동시에 경매장 내부실태 파악을 위해 애써왔습니다.

확인결과, 파주 개식용 경매장은 차량 수십대가 드나들 수 있는 대형 부지를 갖춘 곳으로, 외부인의 출입이 엄격히 통제되는 회원제로 운영되고 있었으며 매주 이틀 간격으로 경매를 열고 있었습니다. 도사견부터 소형견까지 출처를 알 수 없는 수많은 개들이 경매장 내부 뜬장에 갇혀 경매에 부쳐졌고, 경매장 고정 회원인 도살자들은 거의 매주 경매장을 찾아와 현금으로 구입한 개들을 잔뜩 도살장으로 실어 날랐습니다.

한치의 주저함 없이 개의 목에 올무를 걸어 짐짝처럼 집어던지는 경매장 내부인의 거친 행동에 개들은 겁에 질려 어떠한 저항도 하지 못했습니다. 도살장으로 끌려오기 전부터 개들은 이미 몽둥이로 구타당하고, 올무에 목이 걸린 채 바닥에 질질 끌려다니는 등 온갖 학대를 당하고 있었습니다. 개 농장주, 떠돌이 개장수들에게 마구잡이로 개를 사들이고,구입가보다 훨씬 높은 금액으로 경매에 부쳐 도살자들에게 공급책 역할을 하는 과정에서 막대한 수익을 챙기고 있었습니다.

이렇듯 반려동물인 개를 식용으로 판매하며 가혹행위를 일삼아온 파주 개식용 경매장은 그간 많은 시민들의 지탄과 항의에 아랑곳 하지 않고 버젓이 운영을 지속해오고 있습니다.
개식용이라는 죽음의 유통망에서 검은 브로커 역할을 하며 도살자들에게 개들을 공급하는 개식용 경매장 철폐는 개식용 종식을 한 걸음 더 앞당기기 위해 해결해야할 중요한 과제입니다

Das Land gibt sich zwar in der Technik fortschrittlich, jedoch was Tierschutz anbetrifft, steckt es leider immer noch im Mittelalter! Ich fordere die Regierung erneut auf, endlich gegen die Hunde und Katzen Mafia gesetzlich vor zu gehenund Verstöße hart zu betrafen, denn Süd Korea hat ein sehr negatoves Image in der übrigen Welt und würde gut daran tun, dieses endlich – im 21.Jahrhundert – zu ändern!

These places in Korea and other Asian countries need to be shut down immediately. Dogs & cats are companion animals and should not be slaughtered for food. Those who do this to dogs and cats should be prosecuted and severely punished.
These Korean torturers of innocent beings, of millions of dogs, they will live the same horror, the same suffering once they have passed on the other side. But this does not help the dogs they have tortured and that they are still torturing. SHAME on this people where such horrible crimes on our best friends are possible.
