Dog Meat Industry in South Korea

By John Dalley.

South Korea’s dog meat industry has caused controversy for years with exponents citing it as a part of Korean culture, and pointing out the apparent hypocrisy of detractors who eat other animals.

As somebody who chooses not to consume meat at all do I see any difference in consuming dogs and other animals,

Dog Meat Industry in South Korea

and are there major differences between the dog meat industry and other forms of livestock?  The answer to both questions is yes.

President Moon Jae-In,
please end the horrific dog and cat meat trade.

South Korea now has a new president who is more concerned about animal welfare than his predecessor, Park Geun-Hye who was impeached for corruption. Now, we have a real opportunity to have our message heard by the new government and to bring about the change for which we have been worked so hard. President Moon Jae-In had promised during his campaign, that he will improve the welfare of “animal friends”. So let’s not waste any time. Call, write, email President Moon and ask him to end the most urgent and important animal cruelty issue existing in South Korea today – the dog and cat meat trade!
