San Francisco, Fisherman’s Wharf Leafleting Event – July 1, 2017

San Francisco, Fisherman’s Wharf Leafleting Event – July 1, 2017A big thank you goes out to the volunteers who came out to give a voice to the dogs in the Korean dog meat trade!!! Your compassion and dedication are truly appreciated – Don, Kit, Heather and her daughter Ruby, Willow (rescued by SaveKoreanDogs.org), Nancy, Andrea, Angela, Riley (Angela’s dog) and myself. It was a nice, breezy day and we all worked very hard to advocate for the Korean dogs.

Many thanks to Heather, Ruby, and Willow who had flown from Las Vegas once again just to join our event. We collected 1,033 petition signatures and distributed over 1,000 leaflets. Ruby collected over 220 signatures all by herself! Thank you, Ruby. We are all very proud of you. :O)

Nancy, who was volunteering with us for the first time, did an amazing job which included collecting so many petition signatures. She also stepped in when I was being yelled at by several Koreans and told them to leave me alone. :O) Thank you, Nancy. Hope to see you again at our next event.

There was a Korean- American man (looks to be in his 20s) harassing me while I was on the megaphone. I took a video of him. As he didn’t stop his harassment, I started dialing 911 (emergency help line in the U.S.) and he finally went away on his bike. A few minutes later, he returned to his seat (next to us), but did not continue his harassing behavior. We get harassed often at the Fisherman’s Wharf, but we try to persevere and not let that bother us because what the Korean dogs go through, is a million times worse.

Overall, it was another great day at the famous San Francisco Fisherman’s Wharf, with many tourists and visitors from all over the world, many of whom were from South Korea. 1,033 people had gladly signed our petition because they wanted to help these poor dogs. Thank you to all the petition signers!! Tens of thousands of people saw our event and display, and for the first time, learned about the horrific cruelty taking place in South Korea. Every leaflet, every conversation helps. So, it really shows that everyone can do a little something to bring about change. What will you do today?

Anyone can take action to give a voice to the Korean dogs. If you live in the US and would like to organize an event in your city or simply want to hand out our leaflets to your friends, family, and neighbors, contact us and we would be happy to send you our campaign leaflets for free when you make $10 donation* to SaveKoreanDogs.org.

If you live outside of the US, please contact us about our leaflets, which we would be happy to send to you, but we regret that we would have to charge the shipping costs (please let us know which country you live in, then we can give you an idea of how much it would cost to send them). Thank you! Compassion Through Action!

*We are no longer sending leaflets out to US locations free of charge to discourage people who request them but do nothing with them; this is an unfortunate waste of our time and valuable resources (as we pay for these personally), and we hope that by asking for a small donation to SaveKoreanDogs.org (which goes towards rescuing and caring for dogs from the meat trade) this will help to make sure our leaflets are distributed and used for helping the dogs. Thank you for your understanding.
