1. Thank you for your interest in our animal Protection, and livestock food policy. I’ll answer the key points of your nationwide petitions: the ban on eating dog and cat meat and illegal slaughtering and etc.

2. Seongju-gun is operating the “Animal Protection Act”, which is aimed at protecting the life of animals, promoting safety and welfare of animals, and raising the public’s awareness of the importance of the life of animals.

3. Article 8 of the 「Animal Protection Act」 prohibits abusive activities such as killing animals including dogs unlawfully or injuring them without justifiable reason. Also, Article 46 says that a person who violates the Article 8 can be imprisoned for up to two years or be fined up to 20 million won. In addition, it provides cumulative punishment to habitual criminals.

4. Seongju-gun reports and approves animal-related businesses, such as animal sales and animal production, according to the provisions of the Animal Protection Act, while cracking down on unauthorized animal-producing and animal-producing businesses.
We also operate an organic animal protection center on commission for animal protection.
We reinforce the crackdown on animal protection, including continuous promotion of animal welfare, prohibition of organic control, and prohibition of abuse, and support for the adoption of organic animals. 2. 성주군에서는 동물의 생명을 보호하고, 동물의 안전과 복지를 증진하며, 동물의 삶에 대한 대중의 인식을 높이기 위한 “동물보호법”에 의해 업무를 추진하고 있습니다.

3. “동물보호법” 제8조에서는 개를 포함한 동물을 불법적으로 죽이거나 정당한 이유 없이 다치게 하는 등의 학대 행위를 금지하고 있습니다. 또한, 제46조에 따르면, 제8조를 위반하는 자는 2년 이하의 징역이나 2천만 원 이하의 벌금에 처할 수 있습니다. 게다가 반복행위에 대한 처벌도 누적됩니다.

4. 성주군은 동물판매업, 동물생산업 등 동물에 관한 영업을 동물보호법 규정에 의해 신고 및 허가하고 있으며, 무허가 동물생산판매업도 단속하고 있습니다.
또한 동물보호를 위한 유기동물보호센터를 위탁운영하고 있습니다.
동물보호에 대한 지속적인 홍보와 유기금지, 학대금지 등 단속을 강화하고 유기동물 입양을 위한 지원도 하고 있습니다. 앞으로도 동물보호에 관한 여러 사업과 홍보활동을 확대하여 실시할 예정입니다.
