[Urgent] Need 200K Signatures by July 17, 2018 Korean Government Official Petition against Dog and Cat Meat Consumption!
Korean activists against dog and cat meat cruelty have started a petition campaign through South Korea’s official government petition site. There have been countless petitions through the years, but this one is very special and important, because with 200,000 signatures, the Korean government is required to review the petition demand and issue a response. It has already garnered 66,000 signatures since its launch on June 17, 2018, which means there’s a real chance we can reach the minimum number of signatures required for a government response. However there’s a deadline – July 17, 2018. Can we get everyone around the world to sign this petition? Let’s get everyone signed so that our voices for the dogs and cats of South Korea are not wasted and we can bring about change for these poor animals, once and for all. Thank you!! South Korea held a local election on June 13. Bloomberg’s reported: “South Korea President Moon Jae-in’s ruling party won 14 of 17 mayoral and gubernatorial races” and “The ruling Democratic Party also won 11 of the 12 vacant parliamentary seats”. The Democratic Party is considered to be a more liberal and progressive party, and we are hopeful that our campaigns against the dog and cat meat trade has a chance of getting their attention, more attention than from their predecessors.
Nami and the SaveKoreanDogs.org team members are trying to arrange a meeting with the newly- elected mayor of Ansan. Please sign and share this petition so that they can bring it with them to the meeting. Korean internet searches resulted in 202 health food shops; and 128 dog meat restaurants within the vicinity of the Ansan area. That means Ansan is a major dog meat producing and dog meat consumption city!! Let’s get the attention of this new mayor, and make him aware that the world is watching and that we want change. Following Bucheon, his city will be the second city in South Korea to become dog meat- free. We support him in this endeavor and thank him for making the courageous and compassionate decision. Please send a quick email or postal letter to Mayor Kim today.
