Dear Congressman / Congresswoman _______________,
I am writing you as a concerned voter and animal lover regarding House Resolution 752 – Condemning the Dog Meat Festival in Yulin, China, and urging China to end the Dog Meat Trade in that country. If you have not read or decided to support this resolution, I would appreciate your reviewing it and lending your support for a very noble cause.
On June 21st of this year, to celebrate the beginning of summer, the Annual Dog – Meat Eating Festival will begin in Yulin, China. During the 10 day festival tens of thousands of dogs will be tortured, then burned or boiled alive so that the participants can consume their meat. Many of these dogs are actually pets, who are stolen from their owners to use for this barbaric event. The individuals who commit these atrocities are under the misguided belief that the more the dog is tortured and the more painful the method of death, the more their virility will increase. They also believe these acts will help keep them cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Along with China, South Korea is the largest offender of dog torture and slaughter and both violate their own animal protection laws. Consumption peaks during Boknal, the hottest days of summer, in South Korea.
We need as much support as possible from our elected officials to apply political pressure to the Chinese government and get them to stop this annual festival, as well as put an end to the Dog Meat Trade in both South Korea and China. As the Most Powerful Country in the Free World we have built our reputation on speaking for and defending those who cannot do for themselves. Let’s show that we mean this for all forms of life because all life is precious. Thank you in advance for your support and all of your help towards making these goals a reality.
Sincerely,
[Your name, City, State]

Dear Representative Paul Ryan,
I have written this letter to urge you to support House Resolution 752, which would help to end the Yulin Dog Meat festival and urge China to end the Dog Meat trade in that country. Millions of Americans have waited far too long for our elected officials to listen to our requests to urge Yulin to end this horrific trade and are relieved to know that Congress is now beginning to act. If you have not yet reviewed House Resolution 752, please review this resolution and I would greatly appreciate it if you decide to support this noble cause.
