To the highly respected teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh,
We ask you to please watch the videos of South Korea’s dog meat industry: https://youtu.be/_ZVQjgGb4RQ
Each year, around 30 million dogs are slaughtered and eaten in Asia, including Korea, China, Indonesia and Vietnam. In South Korea alone, it is estimated that, annually, 2.5 million dogs and thousands of cats are brutally slaughtered and eaten.
Dogs that are bred on dog farms live in miserable conditions. In South Korea, dog meat consumption is illegal but their government is allowing it to continue, thereby causing immense suffering to these animals. All breeds of dog are used for meat, including stolen pets and abandoned dogs. They are confined to small, filthy cages, given rotten food and scraps which are unfit for consumption, denied space to exercise, and given no shelter from extreme weather conditions. They cannot even feel the ground beneath their paws as they are contained in wire cages, raised off the ground. These conditions are deplorable and cruel.
Dogs are slaughtered in the most brutal and painful methods, often in front of other dogs which watch in fear for their lives. They are beaten, stabbed, hanged, butchered, thrown into pots of boiling water, skinned, electrocuted or blow torched – often whilst still alive. This inhumane torture has to stop.
Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, you teach that ‘all violence is injustice’, and we ask you, therefore, to speak out against the violence that is perpetrated daily in South Korea within the dog meat trade, where animals are subjected to barbaric acts of torture and unimaginable suffering.
We respectfully ask you to stand up for the animals in South Korea, and in those other Asian countries where dogs are consumed, and also to publicly voice your support in favor of ending the dog meat trade.
We ask you to stand with KoreanDogs.Org, and to share your condemnation of this cruel trade. We ask you to educate people that a compassionate society benefits everybody within it. The time is right to end this cruel industry. An online petition calling for your support in ending the horrendous dog and cat meat cruelty is in progress: https://www.change.org/p/engaged-buddhist-and-zen-master-thich-nhat-hanh-please-speak-out-against-the-brutal-dog-meat-trade Thank you in advance for your response.
Yours sincerely,[Your Name, City and Country]

Dogs are wonderful animals, and we humans must be grateful for al the help they give us.
They are used for helping disabled people, blind humans ,as companions for elderly people .There are drug detecting dogs , rescue dogs, they can even detect cancer in humans. But apart from being so useful, they are man’s best friend !
And what are the South Korean people doing with these lovely animals ,dogs and cats also ? They are eating them !
But before being eaten, they have to suffer atrociously .
They have to live in extremely small cages . And at the end of their miserable lives, they are tortured , skinned alive, cooked alive and/or their fur is burned off t alive. It makes me cry.
Do not ignore it. Ignoring is even worse than doing it.
Someone very famous once said you can measure the rate of civilisation of someone by his attitude towards animals .
Sincerly, with a lot of respect,
Doctor Walter Statius Belgium
I needed to do something to help Korean dogs and I finish giving about 150 leaflets from Korean dog org to local people in Philadelphia area. I joined with other millions of people world wide to BOYCOTT ALL KOREAN AND CHINESE PRODUCTS. I never want to visit Korea, China and other Asian countries where innocent defenseless animals are being cruelly treated. Of course I boycott Olympic in Korea.
