Sharing for Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth (CARE)

We are updating you on the horrific incident in Yangpyeong, where hundreds of starved dog bodies were found in a house. When CARE first visited the location, we estimated there were 400 bodies, but the next day, we discovered hundreds more in the backyard, bringing the total number to over 1,000. CARE has since met with two crucial witnesses who revealed that the actual number of bodies is likely over 1500. Today, we received a call from the police, who informed us they had discovered over 1,200 skulls on the property. Reportedly, the perpetrator of this heinous crime had been paid a small sum of money by breeders to dispose of dogs that were no longer able to breed.

CARE has charged the perpetrator with animal cruelty and the breeders with aiding and abetting animal cruelty. Today, the perpetrator was charged with a warrant for his arrest. The police have made it clear that he must be apprehended under any circumstances. They will conduct digital forensics on his mobile phone to uncover evidence of other means of killing the dogs. The abuser carried pesticides with him, presumably as a threat of committing suicide, but even death will not be enough to punish this unprecedented cruelty.

A committee of residents and animal activists in the area is being formed in Yangpyeong. CARE will continue to speak out to ensure that this case is thoroughly investigated and that measures are implemented to prevent such atrocities from happening again. In the meantime, we will provide updates about the four dogs miraculously rescued from starvation.

The brown poodle in the photo had bitten the cage, desperately trying to escape the fate that awaited it. The poodle fought until its last breath but eventually succumbed to starvation, after which it was consumed by other dogs that entered the cage. The entire house had become a massive graveyard of innocent dogs, a grim testament to unimaginable cruelty and inhumanity.

This is one of the worst cases of animal cruelty we’ve ever seen. The abuser starved at least 300 to 400 dogs to death.

Today, CARE visited the scene of vicious animal cruelty where hundreds of dogs, collected over three years, were starved to death. Suppressing our emotions was crucial in our efforts to explore the situation and obtain information from the abuser, but our hearts were weighed down with grief. The number of bodies totals at least three to four hundred, scattered throughout the premises and piled up in rubber barrels.

The dead bodies were already decomposed and stuck to the bottom of the rubber barrels, and new dogs were put in where the previous dogs had died, only to starve to death again. The dogs would eat the flesh of their neighbors as they perished, creating a vicious cycle of starvation and cannibalism. The bodies were piled up in various rubber barrels scattered around the yard, and they too were rotting and losing their shape. The grim scene was made even worse by the presence of bodies and skulls scattered throughout the rooms in the house.

The location was both a puppy mill and a slaughterhouse, and the abuser recently had been collecting smaller, older dogs that were no longer able to reproduce, and left them there to starve to death.

Only 4 of the dogs that were recently brought survived and were rescued today. One was transported to a hospital in Seoul by Care. Three dogs are being hospitalized at a veterinary clinic in Yangpyeong County, which Care aims to take over and treat as well.

The next day, CARE will return to the site with the Watchdogs. We will be live streaming from approximately 11:00 a.m. onwards. It is important that we take some time to contemplate the enormity of this tragedy and consider what measures need to be put in place to prevent such atrocities from happening again. In Korean: 양평 아사사건의 학대자 집은 파면 팔수록 사체가 무더기로 나오고 있습니다.
첫날 케어는 400구로 추정했으나 그 다음 날, 뒤꼍에서 수백여 구의 사체를 추가로 발견했습니다. 굴러다니는 사체는 육안으로만 보아도 무려 1000구가 넘었는데 케어는 결정적인 증인 2명을 만났고 대화를 통해 1500여구가 넘는 사체가 있을 것으로 추정했습니다. 그런데 오늘 경찰은 케어와의 통화에서 두개골을 찾아낸 것만 1200구는 무조건 넘는다고 전했습니다. 결국 천 수백구가 넘는 동물들을 차례로 데려와 굶겨 죽인 사상 유례가 없는 사건인 것입니다.

케어는 학대자와 학대자의 공범격인 번식장 주들을 상대로 동물학대 및 동물학대 방조혐의로 고발장을 접수하였습니다.
학대자 뿐만 아니라 이런 잔혹한 일들을 알면서 번식용 개들을 지속적으로 보낸 방조자들을 처벌하여 번식산업의 이면에서 벌어지는 추잡한 행위들. 잔혹한 동물학대 행위를 발본색원해야 할 것입니다.

학대자는 오늘 구속영창이 청구됐고 무조건 구속되어야 한다는 것이 경찰의 입장입니다. 학대자는 품속에 농약을 가지고 다니고 있습니다. 협박용으로 보입니다. 이 사건은 전세계 유래가 없는 가장 많은 수의 동물들이 처참하게 굶어 죽은 천인공노할 사건입니다. 어찌 되었든 그가 그동안의 죗값을 죽음으로도 피해 가서는 안 될 것입니다.

경찰은 휴대폰의 디지털 포렌식도 하겠다는 입장입니다. 또 다른 방식으로 죽인 행위도 수사에서 밝혀질 것으로 보입니다. 오늘은 여기까지 알려 드리겠습니다. 주민들로 구성된 대책위원회가 결성되고 있습니다. 양평 지역에서 동물보호활동을 하던 분들입니다. 이 사건이 엄중히 수사되도록, 재발하지 않도록 적극적인 목소리들을 낼 것이며 케어는 어디서든 함께 할 것입니다.

사진 속의 갈색 푸들은 굶어 뼈만 남아 죽기 직전 탈출하고자 마지막 힘을 내 철장을 물었습니다. 그러나 입안에 앙다문 철장은 꿈쩍도 하지 않았고 그 숨을 마지막으로 철장을 문 푸들의 몸은 그대로 굳었습니다. 다음에 들어 온 작은 개들이 푸들의 몸을 뜯어 먹으며 죽을 때까지 버텼습니다. 양평 학대자의 주택은 집 전체가 거대한 무덤이었습니다.????

케어는 이 사건을 계기로 대한민국에서 반려동물을 번식하고 판매하는 산업 자체가 금지되도록 목소리 낼 것입니다.
