Call for Action: Paju, Please, immediately shut down the illegal dog auction house occupying the Korean Ministry of Defense property and impose heavy penalties and fines for the violations!
A “meat dog” auction house, located in Paju Geomsan-dong 9-1 area (파주시검산동 9-1 일대) has been operating for the past two years, illegally occupying the Korean Ministry of Defense’s property.
Even though the Paju Dog Auction House was in the process of being served with an administrative order for restoration, as well as a criminal prosecution due to civil complaints that had been filed with the Paju City Hall the previous September, the owner stated that he would pay the fine and continue to operate the auction house.
Before moving to this location, this dog auction house was in Namyangju, illegally occupying government land. This is a repeated pattern of illegal occupation of government land and violation of the Animal Protection Act.
Please take action TODAY to demand immediate action by the Paju government and the Ministry of Defense to immediately shut down the illegal dog auction house and punish all the violators.

Video: Animal Rescue Korea 119 (ARK119). ARK119 held a press conference urging the closure of the illegal dog auction market in Paju. The auction house people are obstructing the press conference with violence.
Shut down the Paju Illegal Dog Auction House!
On October 24, 2019, Animal Rescue Korea 119 (ARK119) (Director Im Yeong-Ki), together with about 10 animal activists, held a press conference to shut down the illegal “meat dog” auction house in Paju Geomsan-dong 9-1.
Even though the Paju Dog Auction House was in the process of being served with an administrative order for restoration, as well as a criminal prosecution due to civil complaints that had been filed with the Paju City Hall the previous September, the owner stated that he would pay the fine and continue to operate the auction house.
As a result, ARK119 decided to hold a press conference in an attempt to shut the auction house down.
The Paju Dog Auction House is open every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, with auctions starting at 1:30 pm.
The press conference, which started at 12:00 noon, was temporarily interrupted due to abuse, harassment, and violent physical attacks from the auction house officials.
Even as the press conference was going on, trucks were quickly arriving, one after another, in order to meet the scheduled auction time. Butchers who won the bids filled their cargo compartments with dogs, including quite a few young puppies.
In a single auction, a minimum of 200 dogs, up to a maximum of 500 dogs, are traded. The butchers slaughter the dogs at their illegal slaughterhouses and deliver the dog meat to restaurants.
Im Yeong-Ki, Director of ARK119, said, “Dogs are being sold through 10 illegal auction houses across the country. We will find and shut down all the places where dogs are illegally traded and slaughtered.”
Meanwhile, ARK119 closed the Gimpo “meat dog” Auction House in August.

This government of South Korea is fundamentally immoral to allow such cruelty to animals. In fact it is dysfunctional. Only poor backward, or so called conservative countries allow such cruelty. I am sure that this image of South Korea has effect on the sale on imports to countries that they do business with. Many countries, unfortunately, kill animals for their people but the their government, through legislation, controls animal cruelty.

This makes me SICK…………. it makes me cry…………..I don’t want anything in my home that comes from any country or any people who allow or cast a blind eye to this. Dogs are the most loyal, most loving, most protective animals. They assist people who need physical help, they have saved many people’s lives……….PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE STOP THIS! There are a lot of SICK humans who could learn much from the dogs in this world! Meanwhile, I want NOTHING in my home or in my life that is made in a country that allows this. Disgusting………..and heartbreaking.
These actions are crimes against humanity and all life on this planet.
If you wouldn’t want to be caged, beaten, brutalized or skinned alive, then you shouldn’t do it or allow it to happen to another living thing. The country of South Korea is sickening!! Uneducated idiots!!!
