Sharing on behalf of Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth (CARE) and Watchdog

Information was received by Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth (CARE) and Watchdog that there were more dog farms in the Incheon Seo-gu District. To confirm that information, they went to the alleged locations and discovered that there were, in fact, many dog farms with possibly hundreds of dogs in total. CARE and Watchdog will be filing civil complaints with the Incheon Seo-gu District Office for the numerous legal violations that were uncovered, and will attempt to shut all these dog farms down.

The dog farm owners stated that the area where their farms are located is part of some type of development plan, and they are breeding these dogs to sell as meat as well as potentially for future compensation.

One of the dog farmers has a pet dog and yet he continues to raise “meat dogs” in horrific conditions in raised wire cages!

Watchdog’s goal is to shut down 1,000 dog farms and slaughterhouses in one year. Unfortunately, they will not be able to rescue the dogs being raised on those farms; no one can. There is simply no way to provide for the hundreds of thousands of dogs now living in such terrible conditions. But by shutting the dog farms down and cutting off the supply of dog meat, Watchdog will be able to bring an end to the unimaginable suffering of future generations of dogs who would otherwise have been born into the hell of these dog farms, and at the same time hopefully change the attitudes and behaviors of the Korean people and their government.

From CARE and Watchdog: CARE and Watchdog visits a large-scale dog farm complex seen from satellite!

There are an endless number of dog farms in Incheon Seo-gu.
A dedicated supporter of Watchdog discovered via satellite a large-scale dog farm complex in the Incheon Seo-gu District. Watchdog inspected the complex on Sunday, September 5, 2021.

It was located under the roadside, so the dog farm complex was not visible to outsiders. Moreover, the area was completely hidden by screens so the dogs could not be detected.

The peak dog meat season (summer) is over, and there were many empty cages, but the dog farm complex is large enough to hold one thousand dogs at its fullest. This small complex is only about 1,000 pyeong (3,306 square meters) but it was filled with farms where dogs are bred and sold.

Watchdog immediately filed a complaint with the Seo-gu District Office founded on various legal provisions, and if the Seo-gu Office responds with a lukewarm attitude, Watchdog plans to accuse dog farm owners and public officials directly. One action that Watchdog will demand is that sick dogs be relocated for medical care, pursuant to the Animal Protection Act.

“와치독, 위성으로 보인 대규모 개농장 단지 찾아가다!” 9/5/2021.

인천 서구. 개농장이 얼마나 많은지 끝도 없이 발견되는 인천 서구.
와치독 서포터즈가 위성으로 서구의 대규모 개농장 단지를 발견하여 와치독이 지난 일요일 이 곳을 찾아갔습니다.
대로변의 아래에 위치해 외부에서는 절대로 발견되지도, 들어가 볼 수도 없는 개농장 마을, 더욱이 개들이 보이지 않게 철저하게 가림막을 겹겹이 쳐 놓고 있었습니다.
여름, 개를 식용으로 넘기는 성수기를 지나 빈 뜬장들이 많았으나, 개들이 많았을 때는 1000여마리는 될만한 규모였습니다. 이 작은 마을의 면적은 약 1천여평 정도밖에 되지 않았지만 빽빽이 개들을 길러 판매하는 곳이었습니다.
와치독은 즉각 여러 법률조항을 근거로 서구청에 먼저 민원을 넣었고, 서구청이 미온적 태도를 보인다면 와치독이 직접 개농장주들과 공무원들까지 고발할 계획입니다.
발견된 개들 중 아픈 개들은 동물보호법위반으로 격리조치를 요구하겠습니다.
