If you want to help fight the grisly South Korean dog and cat meat trade and make a difference in South Korea, here are a few quick actions you can take that could save millions of dogs and cats each year.

Busan became sister city with Los Angeles in 1967, Chicago in 2007, and Montréal(Canada)in 2000. Yet Busan, South Korea is responsible for the horrendous dog and cat meat trade.
In South Korea, the home of global companies such as Hyundai/Kia, Samsung, LG, Daewoo, SK, POSCO,…, an estimated 2.5 million dogs are tortured and slaughtered every year because of the greed of dog eaters and the dog meat industry. And one of the largest markets in South Korea that sells dogs dead and alive for meat is the infamous “Gupo Market” in Busan Metropolitan City. If you have ever wondered what a hell would be like, just take a visit or watch the videos on Gupo Dog Meat Market.
This place is a “Hell on Earth” with helpless man’s best friends in cages after cages waiting for the heartless customers to order them to be slaughtered on the spot by electrocution, hanging, beating,…and thrown into boiling water sometimes while they are still alive. Dogs are being killed in full view of other dogs terrified in cages, in public and in broad daylight.

The Gupo Dog Meat Market is also within the boundary of the “School Environment, Hygiene, Cleanup Zone” specified in the School Health Act as evidenced by the Busan News article and therefore is in violation of School Health Act. The officials in the Busan Bukgu District clearly chose to ignore provisions of the School Health Act and are disregarding the health of the children attending the Dugchun Elementary School and are putting those children at risk. Please imagine letting your children attend school hearing the screaming of the meat dogs and seeing them writhe in agony, being brutally slaughtered right in front of their young eyes. It will either traumatize these children for life or make them immune to the suffering of animals, turning them into the next generation of animal abusers.
There are laws in South Korea against selling dogs and cats for consumption, yet these laws are blatantly ignored.

Why are we not demanding action by Hyundai and Samsung? Do they allow dog meat to be served at company events? or is it banned at their corporate offices? It would make a statement.

well, that was strange. I just called the phone number for the Chicago mayor office and they said I am the only one who called about it. They wanted to know where the slaughterhouses were located..so I mentioned the Gupo one. Please dont tell me I am the only one who has called about this so far?? the woman who answered the phone said I was..that is sad if that is the case!!

every night when I go to bed here in California, I know that those dogs are screaming all the way across the world during their daytime. so when it gets dark here it is time for them to die over there. I can’t bear it. I am helpless to help them. the mustangs also, are being rounded up with HELICOPTERS and I can do nothing to stop it.
