Uijeongbu Shingok-dong slaughterhouse gave up ownership of the dogs, and KARA successfully rescued them!

July 17, 2021: Shingok-dong slaughterhouse gave up ownership of the dogs, and KARA successfully rescued them!

The Shingok-dong slaughterhouse at Uijeongbu, which KARA raided early on July 17, was a place where flower gardens were cultivated at the entrance, but the inside was a terrible hell for dogs. At the time of KARA’s raid, a brown dog that seemed to have just been slaughtered in the early morning was found in steaming hot water, and two bodies were found in the freezer behind the house, which had already started decomposing.

The brown-haired dog, urgently taken out of the pot, came out with steam all over its body. Inside the slaughterhouse, black bags containing the fur and organs of the dogs that would have died like this, were piled up everywhere. Red blood was everywhere. It was a disastrous scene which even experienced activists could not bear.

Like the Seulmoon-dong slaughterhouse exposed by KARA in December 2020 and the Yongdu-dong slaughterhouse in Goyang City on July 1, 2021, an electric iron skewer made by winding insulated tape has been found, and next to the electric iron skewer were leashes that the slaughtered dogs were wearing.

What is more devastating is that there were caged dogs right next to where the electric iron skewer was hanging and where dogs were put into the boiling water. Dogs had no choice but to watch their fellow dogs die from being electrocuted and then boiled.

Dog slaughter by electric iron skewer has already been banned by the Supreme Court, and animal protection laws also strictly prohibit acts of leading animals to death in front of other animals of the same kind.

What is surprising is that the slaughterhouse, believed to have been in operation for a long time committing rampant illegal activities, was located about three minutes by car from the Uijeongbu Agricultural Technology Center, where the animal management team work.

The butcher faced the activists with his rubber gloves and apron on, and without showing embarrassment, he insisted that he had never slaughtered a dog, and said, “Pay money to take the dogs.”

Inside the slaughterhouse, the evidence of transaction statements were found, proving that the slaughterhouse was trading with dog farms and boshintang (‘dog soup’) restaurants. The transaction amount of 16 dogs dated July 2 is 1,971,600 won ($1,713 USD), including “95,000 won ($82 USD) for black dogs, and 130,000 won ($112 USD) for yellow dogs.”

There were dogs with red and blue “tags” which marks them as the next to be slaughtered. The dogs were shaking with fear.

If the slaughterhouse dogs were not “urgently rescued” as abused animals, these dogs may have been sold in a few days. KARA asked many people for help early Saturday morning, and thanks to many complaints, Uijeongbu City officials rushed to the scene even though it was the weekend, and we received a waiver of ownership of all dogs from the butcher!

What is wrong with these people. These animals are gods creatures and should have good lives, not cruelly hurt just for man to eat. It is disgusting can’t these people be taught to look after these dogs. Perhaps they could be made to grow vegetables to sustain good health amongst their people. Please please stop this cruelty.

Those who are involved in these crimes against innocent animals are not civilized, they are void of any feeling of compassion, or of what is right or wrong. They are sadists and evil to the core, and therefore, undeserving of living amongst civilized, caring human beings.

This is despicable and sadistic and immoral treatment of a companion animal, the dog, who is loyal and loving to humans. That Koreans, especially the politicians and the illegally condoned dog meat traders, have been allowed to continue this trade in death for years speaks volumes. What does such indifference to suffering and torture say about the Korean nation and those who wield power over creatures who cannot speak for themselves? Why are the laws prohibiting such cruelty ignored? How much corruption fuels this abomination inflicted on dogs?

Do Korean politicians, save for the few, even care to listen to their own activists wishing to end this barbarity once and for all? Show you care, Korea. Demonstrate shame.

These animals (the people) need to be locked away and the key thrown away. There is no excuse for this abuse, it must be stopped.
