The Korean-registered nonprofit organization, Animal Rescue Korea 119, is once again embarking on a journey to shut down the dog meat industry. 🚶🏽🚶♂️🚶♀️ Under the leadership of the very dedicated and courageous Im Yeong-Ki, they had made this journey in the previous four years, exposing dog farms and slaughterhouses around the country, filed complaints and managed to shut down many of them. They also conduct rescues of injured stray dogs and cats and provide adoption services from their adoption center in Seoul.
They are requesting tips on dog slaughterhouses in the metropolitan area to investigate and shut down during this year’s journey.
Below is a translation of their announcement on April 14:
We are preparing for our 2022 foray to shut down the dog meat industry, and we are accepting tips and information about dog slaughterhouses. This year, our 5th, our primary goal is to target the dog slaughterhouses and the 4 “meat dog” auction markets in the metropolitan area.
We will visit the dog slaughterhouses and, by working jointly with the special police, will take all the necessary legal action to shut the slaughterhouses down. Main targets include dog slaughterhouses in Gimpo, Goyang, Paju, Namyangju, Icheon, Janghowon, and Yeoju, where the dogs purchased from nearby “meat dog” auction houses are slaughtered.
In addition, through our campaign, we will put pressure on the dog butchers at the four “meat dog” auction houses in the metropolitan area.
We would be especially grateful if you could send us tips on large-scale dog slaughterhouses that supply dog meat to Seongnam Moran Dog Meat Market. We welcome insider reports and will take full responsibility for protecting the identities of whistleblowers.
