THANK YOU TO CONGRESSMAN BRAD SHERMAN, SENIOR MEMBER OF THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

At the Valley Alliance of Neighborhood Councils (VANC) meeting on February 9, 2023, Congressman Brad Sherman was asked, “Did you speak with any members of the South Korean National Assembly who you know regarding South Korean dog meat?”

Congressman Sherman stated that he has done so, telling them that the issue of South Korean dog meat is important to his constituents and to Americans coast to coast. He stated that one of the National Assembly Members agreed with him on dog meat, but that the member did not speak for the entire National Assembly.

VANC’s animal representative Jeffrey Mausner thanked Congressman Sherman, informed him that the issue is deadlocked in the National Assembly, and asked him to continue his efforts to stop South Koreans dog meat. Video of this VANC meeting is here. The relevant part is 18:48:29 to 18:49:45, on the time clock in the lower right of the screen.

We ask you to raise this issue with your members of Congress, so they can also communicate opposition to dog meat to members of the South Korean National Assembly. Please see https://koreandogs.org/congressman-sherman/ which was a previous meeting with Congressman Sherman where he was asked to raise this issue with South Korean legislators.

Emails thanking Congressman Sherman for raising the issue of dog meat with South Korean officials and asking him to continue his efforts can be sent to: [email protected] and [email protected]

Congressman Sherman, Thank you for your advocacy to date on behalf of the millions of dogs brutally slaughtered in the South Korean dog meat trade. Humankind’s most loyal companion is fortunate to have your voice. Please don’t stop using it.
