Dear Supporters,

Thank you for the life-changing gift of a safe shelter for the 160 dogs remaining homeless at Animal Rights Korea (ARK) shelter (also known as Gyeyang Mountain Rescued Dog Shelter). Access to the basic necessity of a safe shelter has the power to protect and save lives and create a bright future for these dogs.

Thanks to your generous support, we have reached donations of KRW 63,838,339 (US$ 48,500), including funds matched 1-to-1 by Macquarie Group Foundation (Benevity) over the two events held in November 2021 and February 2022.

We are one step closer to reaching the total funds needed to provide the dogs with a sanctuary until the day each of them finds a forever home and family.

Your support helps dogs like Peter, who celebrated 2 years of freedom from nearly being slaughtered for dog meat. However, without a safe home or shelter, Peter and his friends have no choice but to rely on volunteers who come to care for them, feed them, and clean up after them. The dogs are caged in small lots, where there is no separation between the areas where they eat, rest, and “do their business.”

The hot and humid season has come, and the dogs are struggling. We are sorry to share recent news that Satin, a quiet and shy dog, is now with God. Sadly, we do not know the exact cause of her death.

It is estimated that about $400,000 is required to build a new shelter from the ground up, so we still have a long way to go. But because of you, we are hopeful and confident that we will be able to provide 160 beautiful dogs from ARK with a safe place to call home.

We hope you will continue to follow us on our social media sites as we continue our journey to see our dogs running free at the nation’s first shelter for dogs rescued from dog-meat farms. We would be very appreciative if you would kindly donate to our GoFundMe site and help us make this dream come true. The creator of this donation site is one of our long-time supporters who has adopted Nari, one of our dogs.

With gratitude from all of us at ARK, where the cruelty ends and humanity begins.

Sincerely,

Younghwan Kim / President of Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth (CARE) & ARK Shelter

This is illegal and this is barbaric. This has to be stopped now. Dogs and cats were not put on this earth to be tortured and abused. They were not put on this earth for human consumption. Poor defenseless Animals are being killed for human consumption. This has to end NOW

This sadistic, demonic, animal torture must end and the evil abusers punished. What a sickening society that must be shunned from the civilized world!!!! Thankfully there are some normal people who have compassion for these unfortunate, helpless animals!
