Back in August of 2023, Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth (CARE/Watchdog) raided multiple dog slaughterhouses in Chuncheon (Gangwon Province), which resulted in 90 dogs being relocated from these slaughterhouses to the city’s shelters. This is the story of a dog that CARE rescued from these raids. 👉 Click HERE to learn more.

In a slaughterhouse with a sign reading “Dog Slaughterhouse,” a pitiful black dog was left behind. A mother dog dragged to this place gave birth to her puppies on an empty paper sack placed under a tree in front of the slaughterhouse. Unfortunately, the puppies did not survive due to the lack of food and proper care.

The mother dog, who could barely walk due to severe malnutrition, approached the activists cautiously. The mother dog had no food, so it was nearly impossible for the puppies to survive. When food was eventually provided, she ate it with trembling legs, desperately trying to nourish herself. The mother dog was rescued and she was named Mu-Ryang. Despite enduring extensive treatment, the mother dog has a permanent disability and cannot walk properly. But she will be ok now.

Thanks to the compassion and support of many, Mu-Ryang is undergoing rehabilitation and is on the path to a better life. In collaboration with The Watchdog activists, CARE has successfully shut down dog meat farms in the Chuncheon area and is protecting over 800 dogs rescued from slaughterhouses across the country. Some of these dogs are being prepared for overseas adoption, and we are committed to ensuring that Mu-Ryang finds a loving home, whether through domestic or international adoption.
