Sharing for Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth (CARE)/Watchdog

Before Watchdog ascertained that it was indeed a slaughterhouse, we navigated the dark and shadowy exterior, searching for signs of life. The dogs’ utter stillness, stemming from fear, made it difficult for us to determine the true nature of the establishment from the outside. Yet, as we approached, a subtle groan escaped the Samoyed, a sound too faint for the owner to hear but loud enough for us to identify his presence. As we broke into the facility, the Samoyed rose to his feet and gazed at us with pleading eyes, imploring us to open his cage.

After we named him “Dai,” we sent him to a vet clinic in Seoul, where he has been receiving the necessary treatments for his heartworm diagnosis, and thankfully, his condition has significantly improved. Once we brought him to our adoption center, we were struck by his intelligence, as he responded to verbal commands like “sit,” “hands,” “get up,” and “down,” leading us to believe he was once someone’s companion. However, the question remains: how did he end up in such an atrocious slaughterhouse? It’s unclear whether he was sent there by his previous owner or if there’s a more complicated story to his past, but it’s a harsh reminder that any dog in our country can be subjected to such cruelty.

We’re grateful for the support and sponsorship that allowed Dai to receive the medical attention he needed. Thanks to your generosity, his heartworm has been treated, and his bacterial eye infection has significantly improved. As we continue to care for him, we’re committed to finding him a loving, forever home where he can live out the rest of his life.

📍 As of 6:30 pm today, we have raised 4.38 million won (USD $3,400) for the project “Saving Neglected Animals from Veterinary Clinics”. This amount is far from enough to treat, care for, and adopt out the 9 animals we rescued. “💫부산 도살장에서 구조된 사모예드 <다이> .구조해 주었다고 활짝 웃으며 보여준 놀라운 비밀 ”💫
1-2살 령의 아직은 어린 ‘다이’는 무슨 이유로 도살장에 끌려가 도살을 대기하고 있었을까요?
와치독이 도살장을 급습하던 새벽, 도살장을 돌며 조용히 조사를 하던 당시
도살장 내의 모든 아이들이 바닥에 납작 엎드려 공포에 떨고 어떤 소리에도 쥐죽은 듯 반응하지 않았기에 개들이 따로 있다는 사실을 알지 못했습니다 그러나 ‘다이’만은 달랐습니다.
마치 “저 여기 있어요. 구해 주세요.” 하는 듯 소리를 냈습니다. 그리고 우리가 그들과 다른 사람들이라는 것을 알았는지, 또 도살자들에게 우리가 들키면 안 된다고 생각했는지 ‘컹컹’ 소리를 내는 것이 아니라 정말 조용히, 우리를 쳐다보며 “쉭쉭” 거리는 소리를 낼 뿐이었습니다.
다이 때문에 도살장의 도살을 대기하는 개들이 더 있다는 것을 알았고 다이는 다른 녀석들과 함께 구출될 수 있었습니다. 그리고 다이는 서울의 병원으로 와 심장사상충 치료를 받고 있습니다. 잠시 퇴원하여 <런> 에 입소한 다이, 우리는 다이의 모습을 보고 또 한 번 충격을 받았습니다.
앉아, 손, 일어서, 엎드려를 완벽하게 알고 있는 다이.
누가 다이를 도살장으로 보낸 것일까요?
반려인이 그랬든 아니든, 개라는 한 종이 식용으로 취급되는 나라에서는 이렇듯 모든 개가 식용이 될 수 있는 것입니다.
