Letting go
“If you let go a little, you will have a little peace.
If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of peace.
If you let go fully, you will have complete and joyful peace.”
– Ajahn Chah

“No matter how difficult the past, you can always begin again today.”
-Jack Kornfield

“The ignorant mind, with its infinite afflictions, passions, and evils, is rooted in the three poisons. Greed, anger, and delusion.”
― Bodhidharma

Below is a love meditation adapted from the Visuddhimagga (The Path of Purification) by Buddhaghosa, a fifth-century C.E. systematization of the Buddha’s teachings. (From “Happiness: Essential Mindfulness Practices” – Thich Nhat Hanh)

May I be peaceful, happy, and light in body and spirit.
May I be safe and free from injury.
May I be free from anger, afflictions, fear and anxiety.

May I learn to look at myself with the eyes of understanding and love.
May I be able to recognize and touch the seeds of joy, and happiness in myself.
May I learn to identify and see the sources of anger, craving, and delusion in myself.

May I know how to nourish the seeds of joy in myself every day.
May I be able to live fresh, solid, and free.
May I be free from attachment and aversion, but not be indifferent.
