We received a positive response from the City of Glendale regarding our campaign and petition. We would like to thank Mayor Zareh Sinanyan and the City of Glendale for not ignoring our petition and for following up with an action for resolution. If you want to help fight the grisly South Korean dog and cat meat trade and make a difference in South Korea, here are a few quick actions you can take that could save millions of dogs and cats each year.
Gimpo Mayor Young-Rok Yoo
Gimpo became a sister city with Glendale, California in 2010. But this Sister City has a shameful, reprehensible history: Gimpo, South Korea is responsible for a horrendous dog and cat meat trade.
In South Korea, the home of global companies such as Hyundai/Kia, Samsung, LG, Daewoo, SK, and POSCO, an estimated 2.5 million dogs are tortured and slaughtered every year because of the greed of dog eaters and the dog meat industry. One of the cities that supports illegal mass breeding and brutal slaughter of dogs for human consumption is Gimpo.

There are countless dog farms/slaughterhouses scattered all around the city of Gimpo and they are “Hell on Earth” for defenseless dogs. Man’s best friend exists in squalid, feces-crusted raised cages in utter misery their entire lives. They are slaughtered in most horrific ways – by electrocution, hanging, beating, and are sometimes thrown into boiling water while they are still alive. Dead dogs are tossed away like garbage in front of the cages where other dogs watch in terror and despair.
There are laws in South Korea against selling dogs and cats for consumption, yet these laws are blatantly ignored.

I am appalled that this type of cruelty goes on in this day and age. We must stop buying products from South Korea immediately! And get our politicians, and leaders of the world to cease trade with this country. With the olympics 2018 coming up in South Korea, we must use this to our advantage in an effort to eliminate these acts of crime.
Don’t forget China, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, the Phllipines, and…really, although most meat eaters see a DIFFERENCE, ALL animals are being tortured the world over, for mythical “health” remedies, elixirs, farm animals for what some believe a “necessary evil” only because they believe they can’t live without meat! Those who need “meat” to live, especially Asians who torture, and slaughter, steal people’s cats and dogs for meat are thieves, ghouls, savages, primitives Neanderthals, that have nothing to give this world! In the words of Ghandi, a Nation is judged on its treatment of lesser creatures. In action by individuals or countries who stand by and watch, is akin to condoning the cruelty. Dogs help the autistic, sick, aged, infirm, lead the blind, are used to find missing persons, dead bodies, drugs, bombs, and are now being used to see if individuals are suffering cancer in its early stages. These animals trust us, and have the intelligence and emotional intelligence of a five year old child. Do something!
