Suwon Yeongtong-gu, South Korea, Shut down the illegal dog meat farms, slaughterhouses, markets and restaurants.

Suwon Yeongtong-gu Mayor Song Yeong-Wan

If you want to help fight the grisly South Korean dog and cat meat trade and make a difference in South Korea, here are a few quick actions you can take that could save millions of dogs and cats each year.

In Suwon, there are countless dog farms, slaughterhouses, markets and restaurants where the dogs, who are tortured their entire lives, end up being slaughtered in the most inhumane ways, such as by electrocution, hanging or beating; and then thrown into boiling water – sometimes while they are still alive. In many places, dogs are being killed in full view of other terrified, caged dogs; and this takes place in broad daylight. In addition, many abandoned and stolen former pets end up in this industry, and are subjected to the same cruelty.

A Search Engine reveals the sickening scale of Suwon’s dog meat demand.

Shown below are two search results on Naver (the most popular search engine in Korea) – the first one was for so-called “Health Food Shops” which commonly sell dog elixirs and cat elixirs (also known as dog soju and cat soju); and the second one was for “dog meat restaurants”.

Two search results on Naver (the most popular search engine in Korea) – the first one was for so-called “Health Food Shops” which commonly sell dog elixirs and cat elixirs (also known as dog soju and cat soju); and the second one was for “dog meat restaurants”: 22 Dog Meat Restaurants and 43 Health Food Shops in and around Suwon Yeongtong-gu District.

Even if half of these ‘Health’ Food Shops and restaurants serve dog and cat ‘ingredients’ in one form or another, just imagine how many dog/cat slaughterhouses must be present in and around Suwon Yeongtong-gu in order to supply all of these outlets.

There are laws in South Korea against selling dogs and cats for consumption yet these laws are blatantly ignored.

The Injustice of the Innocent & Voiceless! All animals deserve lives free from human-inflicted suffering. As the highest created being, humans have a moral obligation to be wise stewards of animals. Just because we happen to be the most powerful species on earth, we humans have the ability, but not the right, to abuse the so-called lower animals. The ends do NOT justify the means!
We all know that there is something seriously wrong with a food system where the best day of an animals’ life is the day that it is finally over.
Every Living Creature deserves the Right to Live as Nature has intended!
Not only do animal victims deserve to be free from abuse and neglect, but numerous studies show a correlation between animal cruelty and violence toward people—animal cruelty impacts community safety.
If you have men who will exclude any of God’s creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men.

I am horrified how the Korean people torture and kill “Man’s Best Friend”, the dog. I have had dogs my whole life. They are sensitive, loving, faithful animals that were domesticated by sophisticated cultures over thousands of years to be companion animals to man, NOT FOOD. But not in places like South Korea and China where they are first horrible tortured then killed. It is appalling what the South Koreans do to dogs AND cats. It’s time for this brutality to stop. Be a kind country, and end the practice of torturing and killing dogs.
