"I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do." ~Helen Keller
We had another amazing day of giving a voice to the voiceless South Korean dogs and cats. A big thank you to Kathy, Liliana, Elizabeth, Kit, Susan, Susan’s daughter and her friend, Bella, Jindo (Susan’s dog) who was one of the 57 dogs rescued by HSI from the South Korean meat dog farm, and Giny for your dedication to help end the horrific South Korean Dog Meat Trade and spending your Sunday advocating for the South Korean dogs in the meat trade! This was a hot day with the temperature in the high 80’s – unusual for San Francisco. We are so grateful for your caring hearts and compassion. The normal high foot traffic was at least doubled, because it was still in the middle of the summer vacation season. This was definitely good news for us!! We were there from 10:30am until 4pm and handed out more than 1,000 leaflets. Literally tens of thousands of people walked by and saw our displays in shock and horror and lined up in long lines to sign our petition addressed to the South Korean President Geun-Hye Park. We collected 809 petition signatures. (WOW!!! We set another record!). Click to see the photos and videos from our day!

Below is a message from Noelia who is the Founder of the Animals’ Battalion and the organizer of this event:
A huge thanks to everyone who made this rally a success. To all the activist that made the effort to come to a weekday protest, Paola Gaviño, Nami Kim, Giny Woo, Bob Heisler, Korean dogs and Save Korean Dogs, without all of you the 3 demos would not have been possible.
South Korea: No lie can last forever, animal liberation is imminent.
See you all next year!

We had a fun day at Ancient City Con in Jacksonville, Florida on 7-19-15. Thanks, ACC. Well done! We’ll be back next year.
Angie, Mady, and Bob of KoreanDogs.org gave away promotional items and passed out leaflets in an effort to stop the torture and consumption of dogs and cats in the meat trade. We gave away 40 messenger bags and 45 Frisbees. About 150 leaflets were distributed. We met many interesting and compassionate people, including some celebrities. Most of the convention attendees were in costume which added to the fun. Click to see the photos from our day!
We demonstrated in Daytona Beach, Florida against the torture and consumption of dogs and cats in South Korea. South Korean based Hyundai makes tons of money off people who love dogs. They should do something to help stop the atrocities.
July 18, 2015, Saturday. It was another exciting day in Florida as we campaigned against the torture and consumption of dogs and cats in the meat trade, this time in Daytona Beach. Nami Kim had called me from South Korea and asked me to do a demonstration in front of a South Korean company. We were on public property near the road. The police stopped by but they were friendly and sympathetic. We are non-confrontational and we support the police. Four angry people from the Hyundai dealership came out to talk with me in a demeaning manner. The manager called me a smuck and told me that I was not a man. Despite his hostility, he offered to work with us in a different way but he never said how. I gave the manager a KoreanDogs.org leaflet. I decided to relocate the demonstration a few blocks north because of the possibility of gaining an ally instead of an enemy. Click to see the photos from our day!

We are so grateful for your caring hearts and compassion. We had another amazing day of giving a voice to the voiceless South Korean dogs and cats. The normal high foot traffic was tripled, because now is the peak summer vacation season and in addition, this weekend was U.S. Independence Day, a 3-day holiday weekend. This was definitely good news for us!! We were there from 10:30am to 4pm and handed out more than 1,400 leaflets. Literally tens of thousands of people walked by and saw our displays in shock and horror and lined up in long lines to sign our petition. We collected 780 signatures. (WOW!!! This is a record!). On April 4, 2014 a march was held at the Bell Trinity Square in Toronto, Ontario to raise awareness to the growing number of dogs and cats consumed around the world.
While many of us are aware that it is not uncommon for dogs and cats to be considered food in other parts of the world – less people are aware that they are considered food in Canada too.
That’s right – it is perfectly legal to sell and consume dog meat in Canada.
Animal Action Canada is here to change that. The march yesterday garnered media attention, and the attention of local politicians, and helped to raise awareness of the plight that dogs and cats face around the world and in our own backyard. Click to see the photos and video from the day!
Member of Provincial Parliament (Ontario) Cheri DiNovo will be reading the petition to end dog and cat meat in Canada in the Legislation of Ontario.
Thank you, Animal Action Canada for speaking out against the horrible cruelty of dog and cat meat trade!
On April 4, 2015 we gave away about 500 KoreanDogs.org promotional items including hats, t-shirts, Frisbees, tote bags, and key tabs at the VegFest. Special thanks to Sally Sanders and her son Todd and daughter-in-law Leslie for helping. Hundreds of people expressed interest and concern about the extreme cruelty of the dog and cat meat trade. The VegFest was a spectacular success with thousands of compassionate people attending. Click to see the photos from our day!
Thanks very much for your help, Leslie and Todd Sanders.
Here is our table at the North Florida VegFest in Tallahassee.
Kat and her daughter were very interested in what I had to say about the dog and cat meat trade. These two lovely ladies truly care about animals.
We passed out leaflets and gave away promotional items in an effort to raise awareness about the South Korean dog and cat meat trade on February 28, 2015 at Memorial Park, Jacksonville, Florida. Click to see the photos from our day!
Amanda is one of the new members of the KoreanDogs.org Florida team. Her three-year-old daughter Madilyn and her friend Ashley also demonstrated against the extremely cruel dog and cat meat trade.
Everything is free. I would rather give away 100 items than sell 10.
Joseph from Cleveland, Ohio is shown here posing with Amanda on the left, Amanda’s daughter Madilyn, and Ashley. Joseph told me it was 8 degrees in Cleveland yesterday, so I guess he was comfortable wearing shorts and sandals in 55 degree Jacksonville.
Thank you, Lucia, Daniela, Orso (the golden retriever), Kathy and Giny for your dedication to help end the horrific South Korean Dog Meat Trade and spending your Sunday advocating for the South Korean dogs in meat trade! We are so grateful for your caring hearts and compassion. We had another great day of giving a voice to the voiceless South Korean dogs and cats. Derek Sanders, the very talented lead singer and pianist of the band MAYDAY PARADE, with his daughter and mother at The Side Bar Theatre in Tallahassee, Florida just before their performance there.
I am very good at standing in one place like a statue holding a sign.
Every day is a great day to advocate against cruelty. But Sunday, October 19, 2014 at San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf was especially perfect with warm sunshine and breezes. We had another tremendous day speaking out against the horrendous cruelty of the South Korean Dog and Cat Meat Trade with over 1,000 leaflets handed out and 187 petition signatures collected by five wonderful and dedicated volunteer campaigners. Thank you to Sam, Don, Liliana, Katie, and Giny for giving South Korean meat trade dogs a voice at San Francisco’s most visited, and one of the world’s most famous tourist destinations. We had lots of good conversations with hundreds of people from all over the world – most of them encouraging and thanking us for being there. Many are shocked to find out this is happening in the country they are familiar with for the products they use everyday such as Samsung, Hyundai, Kia, and LG. We had a very successful KOREANDOGS.ORG demonstration in Jacksonville, Florida today at Memorial Park, 1620 Riverside Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32204. I shot this video during a lull in the pedestrian traffic. Alan and Martha did a terrific job informing the public about the horrific dog and cat meat trade. We passed out many leaflets. We gave away about 25 KOREANDOGS.ORG hats, about 20 KOREANDOGS.ORG t-shirts, and probably 35 KOREANDOGS.ORG tote bags. We also gave away many key tabs and plastic cups with the KOREANDOGS.ORG logo and web address. The overall response was very favorable and very encouraging. Of course some people were apathetic and others could not deal with the cruelty. We only encountered one crazy person who put forth the tired old irrational argument that plants have feelings too. He told me that he had a pet marijuana plant. I told him that he has been smoking his pet far too much. Click to see the photos and videos from our day!
Bob Heisler and David Davis demonstrated against the South Korean Dog and Cat Meat Cruelty at the University of Florida versus Louisiana State University football game in Gainesville on Saturday, October 11th. KOREANDOGS.ORG flyers and “Compassionate Choices” vegan brochures were also distributed. The event started at 10:00 AM at the Northeast corner of the University Avenue and 13th Street intersection. About 10,000 cars and trucks rolled by and saw our posters and displays. Thank you, Bob and David, for giving South Korean dogs in the meat trade a voice!Click to see the photos and videos from our day!
Bob Heisler hosted a KOREANDOGS.ORG demonstration at the Southwest corner of the A1A and S.R. 520 intersection in Cocoa Beach, Florida on October 5, 2014 Sunday from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. This location is across A1A from the world famous Ron Jon Surf Shop. Nathan, Tina, and Jordan of Space Coast Activists joined Bob to raise awareness about the atrocities committed against dogs and cats in the meat trade. The group had KOREANDOGS.ORG signs and banners and passed out leaflets to pedestrians but our main focus was on the heavy vehicular traffic in that area. All the participants received free KOREANDOGS.ORG hats and t-shirts. Free cold drinks were also provided. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR GIVING THE SOUTH KOREAN DOGS AND CATS IN THE MEAT TRADE A VOICE!!!Click to see the photos and videos from our day!
What a great turnout of volunteers we had at San Francisco Fisherman’s Wharf! We definitely set the record in terms of the number of volunteers who showed up to help speak out loudly against the horrendous South Korean Dog and Cat Meat cruelty. That was so encouraging and comforting for our organizer, who has been managing these events in San Francisco for the last couple of years.
Our event was from 11am to 4pm and the day was full of memorable moments, conversations, encouragements and raising awareness. Many thanks to Don, Daniela, Orso the Golden Retriever (his name means “Bear” in Italian), John, Lucia, Liliana, Giny, Stephanie, Jean, Pat, Priya, Julia, and Geri, who all made the day possible. Orso, with his calm and loving personality, was a hit with everyone young and old and stole the hearts of many people walking by. He helped us to show why eating animals like him is wrong, unnecessary, cruel, and destructive to the human soul. Because of everyone’s compassionate hearts and dedication to ending the unimaginable suffering of the Korean dogs, we had a very productive day of campaigning. All of the volunteers are awesome and we are truly grateful for each and every one of them. Click to see the photos and videos from our day!
We were prevented from demonstrating for Korean Dogs at the St. Johns Town Center shopping complex in Jacksonville, Florida on 7-12-14 by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Department and St. Johns Town Center security. Five activists came out in a lightning storm that day. A week later we tried to pass out KOREANDOGS.ORG flyers at the Mega Pet Adoption event at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds but we were not welcomed there either.
I have demonstrated against vivisection at the University of Florida in Gainesville three times without incident so I decided to stage an event there at the intersection of University Avenue and 13th Street which is the busiest intersection at the university. This is a two hour drive from Jacksonville so I was the only activist to participate but I had fifteen signs which I placed so that signs were visible from all directions.Click to read more and see the photos!
A demonstration to speak out against the horrific treatment of Korean dogs and cats was planned for July 12, 2014, Saturday between 12pm and 1:30pm at the the St. Johns Town Center in Jacksonville, Florida (at the cross point of Town Center Parkway and Midtown Parkway, Jacksonville, Florida 32246) where thousands gather for the weekend to shop and dine. Bob Heisler, our organizer, spent many hours and contributed his personal funds to prepare for this event. However, when he arrived at the location he was met with the sheriff’s deputies and the shopping center security. Bob was told that the area was all private property, even the grass between the sidewalk and the curb which was the intended demonstration site. However, Bob found out later that they were lied to. Five seasoned volunteer animal advocates handed out over 1,000 leaflets on this beautiful Sunday at one of the most visited tourist attractions in San Francisco. With the summer vacation season in full swing there was more foot traffic than usual on the street where our banner and posters were displayed. Thanks to our wonderful and dedicated volunteers, we set the record for the most leaflets ever handed out in one day! We are so grateful for their caring hearts and it gives us hope that the horror of the dog meat trade in South Korea will someday come to an end. We gathered 140 signatures on our petition to South Korean President Geun-Hye Park, and many others promised to sign our online petitions. On this day, we also featured an ipad showing the video “Shocking Cruelty of South Korean Dog Meat Industry” to help illustrate more vividly the brutality of this illegal industry. Many people were shocked and saddened with what they saw and promised us they will do what they can to spread the word. Fisherman’s Wharf is a perfect to place to get the maximum exposure of this issue to people from all over the world. We talked with visitors from Brazil, Colombia, China, India, Europe, all over the US…the list is endless. One Korean woman complained about our being there and only picking on the Koreans when Chinese and people of other countries also eat dog meat. We explained to her that our group’s focus is on South Korea, while other groups campaign against the dog meat trade of other countries. Click to see the photos and videos from our day!
Once again a big thanks to the dedicated San Francisco Bay Area volunteer-campaigners for organizing this event. The weather was just perfect; warm and sunny on this Valentine’s Day weekend. It also coincided with a three day holiday weekend commemorating President’s Day so it was a pleasant surprise to see much heavier foot traffic than normal at this very popular tourist destination in San Francisco. I think we might have set a record on this day with more than 400 leaflets being handed out by 5 dedicated volunteers who came out to help! So it was a great day and literally tens of thousands of people walked past our banner and displays. We talked to many people from all around the world, of all ages, genders and backgrounds about the horrendous cruelty being perpetrated against millions of companion animals each year in S. Korea and many people were shocked and in disbelief. Click to read more about the day and see photos and videos.
Volunteers displayed posters and handed out leaflets about S. Korean dog meat trade in front of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum which is one of the most visited tourists attraction in DC. Due to the government shutdown and rain, foot traffic at this location was lower than usual but that did not dampen the spirits of our dedicated volunteers and they were able to hand out quite of few leaflets. They also sent out thousands of flyers through direct mailing in the DC/Virginia area.
Rosalyn Morrison (Animal Welfare Institute) handed out campaign against dog meat leaflets at the KORUS Festival in Centreville, VA on Sept 22, Sunday http://koreanassociation.org/korusfest/ with her dog Lulu rescued from a shelter in South Korea. Thank you, Rosalyn and Lulu! If you would like to help Rosalyn with her future events, please contact her: [email protected] (202) 446-2126
Big thanks to the dedicated San Francisco Bay Area volunteers for organizing this event once again. The weather was perfect-warm and breezy. This was an America’s Cup Saturday so we expected a large crowd. However, because of the controversies around the changing of some rules before the race and the majority of teams withdrawing from the race in protest has left the race not as heavily attended. Still there were normal heavy foot traffic from all over the world as Fisherman’s Wharf is one of the most well known and visited place in San Francisco. Our volunteers were able to hand out approximately 150+ leaflets and talked to many people who said they didn’t know this went on in South Korea. Thousands more saw our displays as they walk by with surprised and shocked expressions on their face. Click to read more about the day and see photos and videos.
We had by far the most traffic and exposure among all of our past events on this lovely, warm & breezy summer day at the San Francisco Fisherman’s Wharf. We had three wonderful and dedicated volunteers and a couple of dogs assisting us as we greeted the thousands of people walking by. Summer vacation season was in full swing and helped us by bringing in at least 30% extra visitors to this famous tourist attraction from all over the world. We handed out at least 200 leaflets and talked to many people who wanted to know how they can help. Click to read more about the day and see photos and videos.
On this overcast, windy and chilly summer day in San Francisco, our dedicated volunteers handed out 100+ leaflets and talked to many people about the S. Korean Dog Meat Trade. As usual our volunteers were confronted by several Koreans upset about us exposing their dirty secret. One young Korean girl approached us and told us how much she enjoys eating dogs and how she eats dogs whenever possible as her parents looked on laughing. One Korean man told us to “Stop this!” and we responded, “We will stop this when S. Koreans stop eating dogs!”. After looking at our displays very attentively, one Korean man told us that he was there at the Moran market in S. Korea and witnessed the dogs being slaughtered. Combined with gestures, he described what he saw of how the dogs were slaughtered and walked away shaking his head. As usual thousands of people from all over the world walked by and saw our displays. Most of them just passed by but still a lot of people wanted to help by taking our leaflets to sign our online petitions. Want to participate in our upcoming events or organize your own? On this breezy, cool and sunny summer day in San Francisco, our wonderful volunteers handed out 150+ leaflets and talked to many people about the S. Korean Dog Meat Trade. We showcased our T-shirts and hats. Our volunteers were confronted by several Korean Americans upset and felt that they were being singled out. As our volunteers were not there to debate with people who disagrees with our views but to raise awareness about this horrible cruelty and to drum up support from the people who cares, our volunteers responded politely and avoided confrontation. Literally thousands of people from all over the world saw our displays and needless to say a lot of them were shocked and appalled by how the dogs are treated in S. Korea.
